“Abounding” Oil, 24×24″ Framed in a gold floater frame
I wanted to communicate a sense of joy, peace, and ample provision in the painting, “Abounding”. The style of the original Taos artists inspired my technique, and the background of the painting with the fall tree and mountains are based from a photo I took in Taos. The two buffalos are based on a photo I took in Colorado. It is very important to me to use personal photo references for all my work, as it gives more life and dimension to the piece. I also jumped into texture with “Abounding”, really pushing myself to create thick, tactile strokes, as you can see in the detail images.
