I enjoyed exploring a more whimsical, playful abstraction in the painting, “Deer Trail”. Bold color, fun positive and negative shapes, and textural brushwork, were key elements I focused on. It can be challenging diverting from my reference photos, but oh so rewarding. The magic happens when I set aside the photo I have been working from, and intuitively, boldly lay down color and shapes, that is where creatively comes alive for me. Joy and beauty is what I hope to communicate through “Deer Trail”. Oil, 36×24″, (size of canvas), framed in a wood, gold floater frame.
